Lake Success is a vibrant area with a fascinating history. An incorporated village in North Hempstead, Lake Success was officially established in 1927. The name Lake Success first evolved from a Native American chief named Sucut. The village shares its name with one of the nearby lakes. If you live in Lake Success, your Zip code is going to be 11020 or 11042.

Lake Success may be best known for a large area on Lakeview Road between Union Turnpike and Marcus Avenue. For many years, this large industrial park was home to the Sperry Gyroscope Company, which developed many key inventions and significantly contributed to the American efforts in both World Wars. This building then became the temporary home to the new United Nations in 1946. For six years, the UN made its headquarters in this section of Lake Success while the United Nations building in Manhattan was being constructed. Space reverted to an industrial facility used by Unisys and Lockheed Martin for many years before the area was reconstituted in 1999 into i.park, an efficient and modern facility now home to a number of businesses, including Allstate, The New York Times, AXA Equitable, and the Long Island Jewish Hospital.
