Bellerose is an incorporated village in Town of Hempstead. The village was founded by Helen Marsh of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 1970, Helen Marsh Purchased 77 acres of land of Floral Park gladiola fields to build model community. She suggested “Bellerose” as the name of the railroad station in the area. It is speculated that the name was coined as a combination of her daughter’s name “Belle” and the rose farm south of the station. The name was officially announced in 1917.
